On 19th July, The Duchess of Cornwall, accompanied by Vice Lord-Lieutenant James Williams, met ‘Silver readers’ and their ‘Silver listeners’ at Charlestown Primary school.  Mr David Carney-Haworth OBE and Mrs Elisabeth Carney-Haworth OBE started the charity in 2020 where children telephone older people to read to them once a week. Her Royal Highness became a proud patron of the charity in 2021. The Duchess met many of those involved, including Trustee Dame Esther Rantzen, readers and listeners from all over the country who had travelled to Cornwall to meet her and share how important the work of the Silver Stories Charity was to them. Tea, cake and music made the afternoon a wonderful event bringing together a community of readers and listeners of all ages.
