Citizenship ceremonies are held in County Hall, Truro to welcome those foreign nationals who wish to become citizens of the United Kingdom, have all the legal requirements and have completed all the necessary administrative paperwork.

At these ceremonies, the new citizens, along with families and friends are welcomed by the Lord-Lieutenant (or one of his deputies) and the Chairman (or Vice Chairman) of Cornwall Council. The Lord-Lieutenant gives a short speech outlining the breadth of life in Cornwall and reminds the new citizens of not only their rights and privileges, but also their responsibility to play their part in our community and society. The Chairman describes the process of government in Cornwall and encourages new citizens to play their part in the democratic process.
