In an extraordinary weekend for Cornwall, the G7 Conference of the world’s democratic leaders was held in Carbis Bay.

The Lieutenancy supported this in a variety of ways, most publicly in greeting Heads of State as they arrived at Newquay Airport and through the Royal visits to the Conference.

President Biden (USA), President Macron (France), President Moon Jae-in (S Korea) and President Pamaphosa (S Africa) were greeted on their arrival 9th and 11th June.  On 11th June, HM The Queen, TRH The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and TRH The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended a Reception at the Eden Project and met a selection of Cornish people who had distinguished themselves during lockdown at a Big Lunch also at the Eden Project, during which the Lord-Lieutenant’s sword was used to good effect to cut a celebratory cake.  Earlier that day, HRH The Duchess of Cambridge, along with the First Lady, Dr Jill Biden, had visited Connor Downs Academy.
