Claudia Schwartz, Manager for Residential and Community Care, Isles of Scilly was awarded both for her work during the pandemic and the contribution she has made in guiding the Park House Residential Home in Hugh Town, St Mary’s through challenging times over the last three years. Today Park House sits at the heart of the Scilly community providing exceptional personalised care to residents and older people requiring day care support.
“Claudia’s commitment to providing the very best empathetic care is exceptional,” commented Kate Holborow. “It was also inspirational to hear about the ground breaking approach to integrated health and social care on Scilly. A model which I hope will be recognised and replicated across the county.”
Aaron Haile & Mark Bothwick of Bryher Shop & Post Office were also awarded. Relative newcomers to the island, arriving from London only last year, they quickly established the shop as a vital community hub. When lockdown happened, they provided a crucial lifeline for Bryher residents, staying open throughout and delivering to those shielding and isolating.
“Aaron and Mark have thrown themselves emotionally and financially into the Bryher community,” added Kate Holborow. “Running Bryher Shop is certainly a labour of love and I know the Bryher community are hugely grateful for all Aaron and Mark do for life on the island. Covid has brought significant further challenges for the couple yet you have kept smiling throughout. Thank you.”
